KANANASKIS COUNTRY

Only an hour's drive west of Calgary, Kananaskis Country, also known as K-Country to Albertans, is well known for spectacular towering mountains, pristine lakes, evergreen valleys, and glacial streams.

But keep a watch out—the wildlife includes bears and cougars, along with moose, elk, and mountain sheep.

K-Country includes the areas of:

  • Kananaskis Valley

  • Bow Valley Corridor

  • Sibbald

  • Elbow River Valley

  • Highwood/Cataract

  • Spray Valley

  • Peter Lougheed Provincial Park

    The Friends of Kananaskis Country a non-profit organization with a membership of approximately 600 members, takes a leadership role in the preservation of the ecological integrity of Kananaskis Country.
