Gateway to Kananaskis Country and home to the locally famous Longview Beef Jerky, the former Little New York is a photographer's paradise. Cattle graciously share their grazing land with oil rigs, while the prairie slowly gives way to the mountain range.
In the early years of the oil boom, Little New York was a going concern. Though the area still flourishes with its abundant attributes, the townspeople have settled into the quiet life of the ranching community.
Though just a village, Longview boasts a range of amenities for the casual traveler. If driving south on your journey from Longview, make sure to stop and gas up, and to gather any refreshments that might be required, as the next gas station is 84 km away.
Join Longview for a great weekend in July. Starting with a pancake breakfast at about 7:30 am before the parade, a barbecue supper at the fire hall Saturday night and entertainment with beef on a bun in the park Sunday afternoon.
