NANTON

Friendly is what you are going to find here! Nestled at a spot where the foothills of the breathtaking Rocky Mountains meet the "forever" prairie landscape, Nanton breathes history. Originally created as a train stop at the turn of the century, Nanton gained town status in 1907. It is now known for it's pure spring bottled water that originates in underground streams.

The Nanton Lancaster Air Museum is located on Hwy. #2 South. It was founded in 1986 to honour Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Air Force members, and to commemorate Canada's contribution to the air war from 1939 to 1945. The display includes a Canadian built Lancaster Bomber, sketches and photographs, other training planes, and various parts such as turrets and instrumentation pieces. The Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Take a stroll on Nanton's Antique and Art Walk of Alberta, where you will find a variety of antique and art stores. The Antique and Art Walk of Alberta was a finalist for an Alberta Business Award of Distinction in the year 2000. The walk has grown, attracting more visitors yearly.

Nanton has deep roots in the ranching industry with expansive ranches and real life working cowboys. It's western heritage is honoured yearly with the Round-Up Days weekend and frequent rodeos.
